🌟 Ingredients:
- 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (200 g) sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups (240 g) all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup (120 ml) whole milk
- Optional: 1 tsp vanilla extract or lemon zest for extra flavor
👩🍳 Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour an 8-inch (20 cm) round or square cake pan.
- Cream the butter and sugar
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3–4 minutes). - Add eggs one at a time
Mix in the eggs one by one, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla extract if using. - Mix dry ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. - Combine wet and dry
Alternately add the dry ingredients and the milk to the butter mixture. Start and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined – don’t overmix! - Bake
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 35–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. - Cool
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

- Top with whipped cream and berries
- Frost with buttercream or lemon glaze
